Raising a Lioness: The Entrepreneurial Journey of My Girl x x

It started with one simple sentence from my daughter:

“Mum, I want to be an entrepreneur.”

At 11 years old, she wasn’t talking about waiting until she turned 16 or 18. She wanted to start now. And why not? If we keep telling kids to “wait until they’re older,” we teach them to delay their dreams. But entrepreneurship isn’t about age,  it’s about spirit, vision, and courage.

So we built her business together.

She decided she wanted to create jewellery charms, bracelets, and little masterpieces crafted with her own imagination. I invested in her not just with money, but with belief. Because belief is the foundation of every great business.

And then it happened.

One day, she went out with her creations, brave as a lioness, and pitched them to people. A man handed her £10 for one of her bracelets. Her face lit up brighter than any diamond.

That £10 was more than a transaction. It was a revelation.

It was proof that her work had value.
It was proof that people buy not just products, but passion.
It was proof that belief + action = possibility.

And here’s the real magic: at 11, she’s already learning lessons many adults still struggle with in business.

  • To trust herself, even when she’s nervous.
  • To stand tall, even when her voice shakes.
  • To be soft and kind, but not a people-pleaser.
  • To know her worth and to never be afraid to ask for it.

That’s not just entrepreneurship. That’s leadership.

I call her my little lioness because she has fire in her belly and grace in her heart. She knows she doesn’t have to lean on anyone to survive, but she also knows the importance of connection, trust, and community.

And as her mum, watching her step into her power is the greatest legacy I could ever hope to build.

Because legacy isn’t just about the businesses we create, the deals we close, or the money we make. Legacy is about raising the next generation to be bold enough to dream, brave enough to act, and resilient enough to rise again and again.

She’s only 11. But she’s already teaching me daily that entrepreneurship isn’t about age, gender, or circumstance. It’s about courage.

And I couldn’t be prouder.
